Digital Wallet Provisioning

$2,500.00

+$250/month. Subject to additional costs from CPI Card Group and card processor.

Instant digital wallet provisioning enables members to add their debit card to their mobile wallet—such as Apple Pay or Google Pay—within seconds directly from mobile banking. This eliminates friction, increases debit card activation, and drives higher transaction volume. At the same time, wallet payments leverage tokenization, enhancing security and reducing fraud exposure.

Ultimately, this is a simple yet powerful capability that elevates the member experience, increases interchange revenue, and helps your credit union remain competitive with other financial institutions.

We’ve partnered with CPI Card Group to bring this capability to our network. Once the store order is placed, the team will reach out to you to assist with the necessary paperwork and to then put you in contact with CPI Card Group!

**See details in the description below on the next steps that are needed to fully launch this feature

Instant digital wallet provisioning allows members to add their debit card to their mobile wallet—like Apple Pay or Google Pay—within seconds directly from mobile banking. This removes friction, increases debit card activation, and drives higher transaction volume. At the same time, wallet payments use tokenization, which improves security and reduces fraud exposure. Ultimately, it’s a simple capability that improves member experience while increasing interchange revenue and keeping the credit union competitive with larger financial institutions.

Why should you consider this solution:

  • When a member adds their card to their phone, it becomes part of their everyday spending habits—driving more transactions and increasing interchange revenue
  • Members can add their card to their mobile wallet in seconds and start using it immediately without waiting or entering card numbers.
  • It’s a small feature that creates a big impact—improving member experience, increasing card usage, and strengthening payment security.

We have partnered with CPI Card Group to bring this service to our network!  There is an initial form that will need to be downloaded and completed when you submit your order!  This will help us speed up the process and get you in the queue faster!

How the process will work:

Existing cards

Once this feature is enabled, the member will have an option to ‘add to wallet’.  Once the card is added, since it is already activated, they can begin using the card in the wallet immediately.

Newly issued cards

Once the card is ordered on CBX, the card will then be sent to the card processor via the nightly batch maintenance file.

Once this feature is enabled, the member will have an option to ‘add to wallet’.  If the card is loaded at the card processor, the card will be added to the digital wallet and activated for digital use.  This will help ensure the physical card is sent in the mail with activation requirements but will allow them to use the card in a more near real time manner.

Requirements

You will need to sign an agreement with CPI Card Group to support this feature.  Once the store order is initiated, the IRSC team will engage CPI Card Group to make introductions so your credit union can ask questions, review the contract and pricing, and allow CU*Answers and CPI Card Group to work together to determine a launch date.  Of course, we will need to work closely with your card processor(s) as well.

You will also need to open a project with your card processor(s) to enable the ability to add the card to the mobile wallet and allow for digital activation.  Digital activation is a process that will allow a newly issued card to be active, while the card is mailed inactivated.    There could be additional costs from them as well.  To help with this process, we are assisting with the details needed to open the project with your card processor.  You will want to find your processor below and request the APIs from them.
